In the daily operation of modern data centers, stable and uninterrupted power is the key to normal business operation. Due to the operating characteristics and requirements of the equipment in the computer room, the power distribution system of the data center must be equipped with reliable power switching equipment. The low voltage ATS panels are the core equipment to ensure backup power supply.
1. Core function
ATS is mainly responsible for power switching between the mains power supply and the backup generator. When the municipal power grid fails, the voltage is unstable, or the power is directly cut off, the ATS will monitor the power supply status in real time, and according to the preset parameters, automatically switch the power consumption equipment to generator power supply. 2. Installation and usage scenario
ATS is generally installed at the front end of the low-voltage power distribution in the data center, mainly supplying power to non-core equipment, such as computer room air conditioners, cooling equipment, lighting, fire protection supporting facilities, etc. These devices do not participate in data computing, but directly affect the quality of the computer room environment. For example, if the cooling equipment stops, the temperature in the computer room will rise rapidly, which can easily damage precision electrical equipment.
3. Applicable limitations
When ATS switches power, there will be a brief power interruption ranging from milliseconds to seconds. For this reason, it cannot be used to protect core IT equipment such as servers and storage devices. For such critical loads, UPS uninterruptible power supply is required to achieve zero-interruption power supply, and ATS is only responsible for switching conventional power lines.
4. Practical application value
In daily operation and maintenance, ATS is used together with diesel generators. After the mains power supply returns to stability, the equipment will automatically switch back to municipal power and shut down the generator at the same time. The entire power switching process is fully automated. This can reduce manual operation errors and make the data center more stable in environments with frequent grid fluctuations and power outages.
In short,low voltage ATS panel cannot achieve completely uninterrupted power supply, but it can quickly and safely complete dual-power switching, steadily ensuring the normal operation of auxiliary equipment in the data center.
